OCD regional offices on heightened alert for Eleksyon 2025

OCD regional offices on heightened alert for Eleksyon 2025

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Wednesday said it has ordered regional offices to intensify their preparedness measures for Eleksyon 2025.

In a statement, OCD administrator Undersecretary  Ariel Nepomuceno stressed the important role of the agency in making sure the election is peaceful, safe, and resilient against disasters.

“Our preparedness and coordination are vital in protecting lives, maintaining peace, and fostering public confidence in the electoral process. Every step we take now helps ensure a smooth, credible election,” he said.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) expanded the blue alert status starting from May 9 to 14 to give agencies more time to monitor developments and respond swiftly to emergencies.

Duty officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine National Police are to remain on duty at the NDRRMC Operation Center.

Concerned offices and centers have to boost their monitoring and reporting of all election-related incidents as well as keep close coordination with law enforcers and other partners.

Reports on incidents monitored from May 9 to 14 will be submitted via the NDRRMC Monitoring Dashboard, according to the OCD.

Nepomuceno called on all stakeholders, including candidates, voters, and election officials, to remain vigilant and cooperate for a peaceful election.

Election Day is on May 12. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
