Fake dentist offering services online nabbed in Cotabato City —ACG

Authorities arrested a fake dentist offering services online during an entrapment operation in Cotabato City, the Philippine National Police's Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) said on Thursday.

ACG chief Police Brigadier General Bernard Yang said the suspect was a student providing dental services like cleaning and installation of braces without any authorization.

“Last April 28, nagkaroon tayo ng entrapment operation sa Cotabato City. Ito ay tungkol doon sa mga nago-offer online ng dental services,” Yang told reporters.

(Last April 28, we carried out an entrapment operation in Cotabato City about individuals who were offering dental services online.)

“Nahuli po natin si alyas Park na ito po ay kung babanggitin po natin graduate ng 'YouTube academy.' Hindi po nag-aral pinag-aralan niya po doon at naghikayat po siya ng mga kliyente niya para magpaayos  ng mga ipin,” he added.

(We caught alias Park, who is, if we may say so, a graduate of the ‘Youtube academy.’ They didn’t go to school, they studied on that app and persuaded clients to get their teeth fixed.)

According to Yang, ACG coordinated with the Philippine Dental Association and learned that the suspect is not an authorized dentist.

The suspect will face a complaint for the violation of the Philippine Dental Act of 2007.

From March 12 to April 28, the ACG said a total of 14 persons have been arrested in nine entrapment operations for their illegal dental services activities.

These were reported in Cotabato City, Zamboanga City, Ipil town in Zamboanga Sibugay, Davao City, and Tagum City, according to the ACG. — BM, GMA Integrated News
