PCG rescues 11 persons from capsized motorbanca in Romblon

The Philippine Coast Guard on Thursday rescued 11 individuals after their motorbanca capsized in the waters off Barangay España in San Fernando, Romblon.

According to Coast Guard Station Romblon, personnel of the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Cajidiocan and CGSS Magdiwang were taking a break after providing security to a motorboat race in the area when the motorbanca capsized around 15 meters from the shore.

Individuals on board, which included six children and a senior citizen, said that they watched the motorboat race and were en route to Sitio Olango when their vessel lost stability and capsized.

According to the PCG, all 11 people were safely rescued and are now back at home in good condition. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
