31 suspected rival groups’ supporters nabbed in Abra

Thirty-one suspected supporters of rival groups were arrested in Pidigan, Abra, the Northern Luzon Command said Sunday.

In a statement, the individuals were arrested in Barangay Laskig after a citizen tipped off the military about the presence of armed men in the area on Saturday.

Ten individuals were arrested when the military intercepted six vehicles.

The arrest yielded several high-powered firearms, including four M16 rifles, one Bushmaster rifle, and five .45 caliber pistols.

The other 21 individuals were nabbed in a separate operation, where two illegally held .45 caliber pistols were found.

All the suspects are under the custody of the Pidigan Municipal Police Station, pending further investigation and appropriate legal action. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
