Hot pursuit being conducted after Abra poll shooting — Comelec

Hot pursuit operations are ongoing against individuals who may be behind the shooting near a polling center in Bangued, Abra during the 2025 Philippine elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Monday.

“Kasalukuyan na po na nagkakaroon ng hot pursuit operation doon sa maaaring nagpaputok,” poll body chairman George Garcia said in an ambush interview.

(A hot pursuit operation is currently underway to track down the possible shooter.)

It was reported that shots rang out around 7 a.m. near Sagap Elementary School in Barangay Sagap, causing panic among voters.

Video taken at the scene showed people running. Some fainted during the commotion. Voting stopped for a few minutes but resumed later.

Two victims with gunshot wounds in the shoulder and back were taken to the hospital. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
