Speaker Romualdez wins third straight House term

Speaker Martin Romualdez won his third consecutive term as Leyte Representative in Eleksyon 2025.

This developed after the Provincial Board of Canvassers for the province of Leyte, led by its chairperson, lawyer Ma. Goretti Caseñas-Cañas, proclaimed Romualdez in the race for the Leyte First District Representative on Tuesday, May 13.

Romualdez, cousin of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., was unopposed in the province for the 2025 election. This is his sixth overall term as Leyte Representative.

“I am very grateful for my constitution, especially to Tacloban, for the new chance to serve,” he said.

“This victory is a win for our district. We will be able to do more work for the benefit of our people. Tinitiyak ko po: hindi masasayang ang tiwala ninyo,” he added.

(I assure you, your trust in me won’t go to waste.)

Leyte’s first district includes Tacloban City and the municipalities of Palo, Alangalang, Babatngon, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Tanauan, and Tolosa. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
