Man killed in landslide in Tupi, South Cotabato

A video showed people shouting and wailing while rescuers tried to save a man who was buried under a landslide that hit a local fair held in Barangay in Barangay Bunao in Tupi, South Cotabato, according to a report on "State of the Nation" Wednesday.

According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the man was sleeping in one of the tents when the landslide occurred.

He was rescued with the use of a backhoe and brought to a hospital but he died later.

It is possible the soil at the side of the mountain was loosened due to the continuous rain in the area. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
