70-year-old man dies after trike sideswiped by bus in Negros Oriental

A 70-year old tricycle driver was killed and three people were injured after a bus hit his vehicle in Siaton, Negros Oriental.

In Tina Panganiban-Perez’s Tuesday report on “24 Oras,” the tricycle driver was leaving after getting passengers in Barangay Bonawon when it was hit by a bus along a national highway on Monday.

According to the Siaton police, the tricycle was in the right lane.

Due to the impact, the tricycle turned over, and the 70-year-old driver was thrown off and sustained a head injury.

He was brought to the hospital but later on passed away.

Meanwhile, three of his passengers, one of whom is a two-year-old child, sustained injuries.

They were brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

The bus driver is under police custody. He explained that he hit the tricycle because he was avoiding an approaching vehicle.

However, the CCTV did not catch any approaching vehicle.
