1 dead in delivery truck accident in Zamboanga del Norte

A 43-year-old man died when the truck he and his companion were riding fell on its side and pinned him to the ground.

The incident happened in Barangay Muñoz, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte, dawn on Friday, May 30, 2025.

According to the police, the truck was transporting soft drink bottles to Salug, Zamboanga del Norte from Cagayan de Oro City when one of its front tires burst.

The driver lost control of the truck and when the vehicle was starting to tilt to its side, the victim, who was riding at the back, reportedly tried to jump off, only to find the vehicle falling on him.

The 30-year-old driver survived.

“‘Yung pahinante niya, na-trap doon sa sasakyan. Ang sabi ng driver, tumalon daw yung pahinante, pagkatapos, pagtalon niya, natumba yung sasakyan, kaya naipit siya ng truck nila,” said PCMS Ranfil Montañez, investigator of the Siayan Municipal Police Station.

(The assistant was trapped by the vehicle. The driver said the victim jumped at the same time the truck fell, that’s why he was pinned by the vehicle.)

The owner of the truck has reportedly reached out to the victim’s family. —GMA Regional TV News
