Cagayan RDRRMO under red alert due to impact of Dante, Emong

Cagayan red alert Emong Dante red alert

The Cagayan Valley Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) has been placed on red alert due to the effects of tropical cyclones Dante and Emong.

According to the Cagayan Provincial Information Office (PIO), the red alert status took effect on Wednesday under Memorandum Order No. 80 series of 2025.

“Kaugnay rito, inaatasan ang lahat ng Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices ng Cagayan, Batanes, at Nueva Vizcaya na magtaas na rin ng red alert status,” the Cagayan PIO said.

“Habang ang probinsiya ng Quirino at Isabela ay nananatiling nasa blue alert status pero ito ay maaari pa ring magbago depende sa mararanasang sitwasyon na dulot ng mga nasabing sama ng panahon,” it added.

(In relation to this, the local DRRMOs of Cagayan, Batanes, and Nueva Ecija were mandated to raise their alert status to red, while Quirino and Isabela provinces will remain under blue alert status but may change depending on the situation brought by the inclement weather.)

The red alert status is the highest level of alert, addressing an ongoing or imminent emergency. It requires response agency staffing at the NDRRMC and immediate interagency coordination.

Meanwhile, raising a blue alert means being prepared for a slow-onset hazard event or anticipating a situation escalation, requiring selected duty personnel. Primary or lead personnel from the Office of Civil Defense and detailed duty officers shall render duty at the NDRRMC.

All local DRRMOs were also tasked to prepare disaster preparedness measures and incident monitoring to ensure public safety.

The Cagayan Valley Regional DRRMO also activated the “Charlie Protocol,” which enables its selected response cluster and other rescue assets in preparation for the effects of the inclement weather. –NB, GMA Integrated News
