70-year-old woman dies in Iloilo fire

A 70-year-old woman died after a fire that broke out in Baranga Oñate de Leon in Mandurriao, Iloilo City on Saturday morning.

According to information from the Iloilo City Fire Station, the victim was found underneath a plastic cabinet inside her room and may have died due to suffocation.

Initial investigation showed that the fire may have been caused by an unattended candle.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is still conducting further investigation on the incident. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
