Two kids drowned in separate incidents in the town of Rodriguez, Rizal over the weekend.
The body of a teenage boy was found by authorities after he drowned in the Marikina River in Rodriguez, Rizal over the weekend.
According to EJ Gomez’s report in “24 Oras” on Tuesday, authorities said the victim was with a friend when the incident happened at the Marikina River Spillway in Barangay San Isidro on Saturday.
“Sinasabi yung dalawang bata ay namimingwit. Nung sumabit ‘yung pamingwit niya sa ilalim ng tubig, pinuntahan daw ng bata, doon daw hinila ng tubig papunta sa gitna,” said Ariel Sales, chief operations of BDRRMO Brgy. San Isidro.
(Someone said the two children were fishing. When his fishing line got snagged underwater, the child reportedly went to retrieve it, and that's when he was pulled by the water towards the middle.)
Several barangay tanods witnessed the incident and a search and rescue operation was immediately conducted. The victim’s body was found on Sunday morning, according to the report.

In another incident, a four-year-old child also drowned in while swimming in the Wawa River in Sitio Inigan in Barangay San Rafael.
Investigation showed that the young victim and two playmates went swimming in the river on Sunday morning.
The victim disappeared in the water for an hour before he was found, the barangay said. The child was declared dead on arrival in the hospital. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
