Lipa court convicts 2 men in kidnapping for ransom case
A Lipa City court has found two men guilty of kidnapping for ransom, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced Wednesday.
In a statement, the NBI said the Lipa City Regional Trial Court Branch 13 sentenced Francisco Quiamco and Rammel Relos to reclusion perpetua (20 years and 1 day to 40 years imprisonment) without eligibility for parole.
According to the bureau, the victim was abducted after leaving a supermarket in Lipa on July 24, 2015. The perpetrators had demanded a ransom of P30 million for the victim's release.
Acting on the complaint of the victim's family, NBI operatives conducted surveillance to locate the victim and the kidnappers in Mangatarem, Pangasinan. On July 30, 2015, the victim was rescued and the abductors were apprehended. –Joahna Lei Casilao/VBL, GMA Integrated News
