Fire-hit residents in Davao City face floods in evacuation center

Some evacuees displaced by a recent fire were among those affected by the flooding caused by heavy rainfall in some areas in Mindanao.

According to Marisol Abdurahman’s Thursday report on “24 Oras,” some students and teachers braved the flood to get home in South Upi, Maguindanao del Sur.

Some motorcycles also found difficulty passing through the flooded area.

Due to the flooding in Davao City, some vehicles stalled while wading through the floodwaters.

According to some barangay officials, the flooding is caused by the downpour and high tide.

In Barangay Leon Garcia Sr. in Davao City, evacuees were forced to move to five different classrooms as flood entered the school's gymnasium.

They were among the almost 100 affected families by the fire that hit on Monday.

Some residents of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi said they have been experiencing heavy rains for about a week.

Meanwhile, a bridge fully collapsed following a downpour and flooding in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.

According to PAGASA, the thunderstorm and Intertropical Convergence Zone caused the bad weather in some parts of the country. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA Integrated News
