'Day of Rejuvenation' gives Ilocos Sur gov't employees 5-day break

Ilocos Sur local government employees enjoyed an extra day off this Friday, August 22,  after it was declared a Day of Rejuvenation by the city officials.

In all, they will have a five-day break, including August 21 (Thursday), a special non-working day; August 22 (Friday), Day of Rejuvenation; Saturday (August 23) and Sunday (August 24); and August 25 (Monday), National Heroes Day.

"Magandang hakbang ito ng gobyerno para ma-relax naman ang kanilang empleyado at maging effective sa kanilang work," said Ilocos resident Blessy Joy Bambalan on a "24 Oras" report by Mark Salazar.

Mark Doringo, a business owner in Metro Manila, said his family is taking a road trip to the north, "rain or shine...to relax and do away with stress."

RM Conda, a businesswoman, said work never leaves them even when they are on vacation.

"Our business is more about talking to guests online," she said, which requires them to constantly monitor.

"Maybe if we have paid all the bills, that's the time we can rejuvenate," she added.

She said she looks forward to long weekends to allow her longer time to sleep and rest at home.

"Parang hindi na ko masaya na nagbabakasyon, masaya na lang ako 'pag nandito sa bahay," she said.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
