Magat Dam opens gate amid LPA, Southwest Monsoon
One gate of the Magat Dam, which straddles Ifugao and Isabela provinces, was opened on Monday morning to release water, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
In a hydrological situationer, PAGASA said the gate released a total of 461.33 cubic meters per second (cms) of water as of 8 a.m. while the water level was recorded at 188.59 meters.
Areas likely to be affected are Ramon, San Mateo, Aurora, Cabatuan, Luna, Reina Mercedes, Burgos, Naguilian, and Gamu in Isabela and Alfonso Lista in Ifugao, according to PAGASA.
Meanwhile, PAGASA forecast an average of 15 millimeters (mm) to 25 mm of rainfall over the basin in the next 24 hours.
It said that a low pressure area was estimated at 365 kilometers east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte as of 3 a.m. while the Southwest Monsoon is affecting the western section of Southern Luzon.
