Missing Bajo de Masinloc fisherman rescued — PCG

A fisherman in Bajo de Masinloc who has been missing for three days was found on Monday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

In a statement, the PCG said the BRP Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408) on Monday conducted search and rescue operations for the missing fisherman who was onboard the fishing boat FFB SAIDER in the vicinity waters off Bajo de Masinloc in Zambales.

“MRRV-4408 continued its search and rescue operations in the coordinated area when the fishing banca FFB CHIEF IVER reported via radio communication that the missing fisherman had been found,” the Coast Guard said.

“Immediately after receiving the report, MRRV-4408 proceeded to the area where the missing fisherman was found and was later identified as Mr. Roberto Albior, 53 years old, from Calapandayan, Subic, Zambales,” it added.

The BRP Cape San Agustin expressed its gratitude to Mr. Jessie Aquilles for his assistance in reporting the missing fisherman.

On August 22, Albior was separated from his 12 companions after strong winds and big waves caused by Tropical Depression Isang hit FFB SAIDER while they were sailing southeast of Bajo de Masinloc.

Initially, the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Zambales and BRP Cape San Agustin were able to transport the 12 fishermen back to Subic, Zambales.

The patrol vessel provided medical assistance and food to Albior while transporting him back to Subic according to the PCG. — Joviland Rita/RF, GMA Integrated News
