License of driver in car with traffic enforcer on hood perpetually revoked — DOTr

The license of the driver who refused to pull over for a violation and continued to drive with the traffic enforcer hanging onto the hood of her car in Kawit, Cavite has been perpetually revoked, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Tuesday.

DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon made the announcement during a press briefing with Land Transportation (LTO) chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II.

"'Pag kayo ay hindi sumunod sa batas, kayang-kayang tanggalin ng gobyerno, ng LTO, ang lisensya n'yo. Either temporarily, or in the case ng mga grabeng violators, forever o habambuhay kayong hindi makaka-maneho, makakasuhan pa kayo," Dizon said.

(If you don't follow the law, the government or the LTO can revoke your driver's license. Either temporarily, or in the case of serious violators, you will not be able to drive forever, you will also be charged.)

"Nagyayabang pa itong (driver) na kesyo abogado sya. Kung abogado ka, mananagasa ka ba ng enforcer? Okay, since abogado ka, harapin mo itong mga parating sa iyo," he added.

(This driver was boasting that she is a lawyer. If you are a lawyer, will you run over an enforcer? Okay, since you are a lawyer, face these cases coming at you.)

CCTV footage showed traffic enforcer Michael Trajico hanging onto the hood of the moving vehicle for almost 15 minutes.

Dizon had advised the traffic enforcer to file a case against the driver.

"Michael, nasa likod mo kami. 'Wag ka matakot sampahan mo ng kaso 'yan. 'Wag ka matakot porke abogado," Dizon said.

(Michael, we're behind you. Don't be afraid to file a case. Don't be afraid just because she is a lawyer.)

GMA Integrated News has reached out to the driver for comment, but a sibling declined to make a statement, saying their family is waiting for legal advice.

Meanwhile, Dizon said the department is planning to publicize the names of abusive drivers, especially those who are involved in serious traffic violations. — RF, GMA Integrated News
