Senior citizen dies in truck accident in Davao City

A 60-year-old man died instantly after he was hit by a wing van truck in Santa Cruz in Barangay Acacia in Davao City. 

According to the report of GMA Regional TV's Rgil Relator in "24 Oras" on Monday, investigation showed the driver lost control of the truck’s brakes while turning left until he hit the victim who was just standing outside his house. 

The 27-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and is in police custody. 

GMA Integrated News is trying to reach out to the suspect for comment.

Meanwhile, three children and the driver of a mixer truck died after the latter lost control of his vehicle’s brakes, causing him to hit the roadside at Bansalan, Davao del Sur. 

Police investigation showed that the mixer truck was on its way from Sito Balutakay to Barangay Managa when it suddenly swerved to another lane before hitting the side of the road.

The mixer truck rolled over due to the impact and hit the three boys, aged 9, 10, and 12, who were then walking along the side of the highway after buying ice cream. 

 All of the victims were brought to Digos City but were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.  — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
