9-year-old dead after being swept away by floodwaters in Iligan

A nine-year-old female student died after being carried away by floodwaters in Iligan City on Wednesday.

According to Raffy Tima’s Thursday report on “24 Oras,” her teacher said the student was on her way home when a sudden downpour occurred.

Witnesses said the student slipped and fell into the canal. Her body was found in Barangay Tubod.

Some areas in the country also experienced bad weather.

In Barangay Pacuan in La Libertad, Negros Oriental, some residents braved the raging spillway while others were left stranded.

Floodwaters also rose in Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental.

Meanwhile, a road in Barangay Caridad in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, was submerged in floodwaters.

In Midsayap, Cotabato, the local government unit utilized heavy equipment to remove debris from flooded areas.

A video also showed the rain and strong winds causing almost zero visibility on some roads.
