Rider dies after motorcycle crashes into truck in GenSan
A 28-year-old rider died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a parked truck in Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City dawn on Friday, September 12, 2025.
Because of the impact, the motorcycle was pinned under the truck.
“Kusog ang impact, nitay-og ang truck…Naog dayun mi. Motor diay,” the truck driver said.
Responders tried to revive the victim before rushing him to the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
According to the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the General Santos City Police Office, the motorcycle was running at high speed before it collided with the truck.
“Based sa nakakita mabilis yung takbo ng motorcycle, di niya siguro nakita na may naka-park doon na truck,” Traffic Enforcement Unit Chief, Capt. Lamberto Rabini Jr., said.
The 23-year-old truck driver claimed that a warning device had been placed on the road to alert motorists of the parked vehicle.
“Warning device. Tapos ang lubot sa truck maigo sa suga, mag-reflect murag sticker siya,” the truck driver added.
However, police observed that the truck was occupying a major portion of the road where it was parked.
“Based sa ating nakalap, 60 percent road is na-cover ng ating truck so tinitingnan natin kung may kapabayaan ang driver doon sa incident,” Rabini said.
The truck driver has admitted his fault and has asked forgiveness from the victim’s family.
“Mangayo lang gyud mi pasaylo. Wala nako to gituyo,” he said. — Efren Yunting Mumac, GMA Regional TV News
