Retired Navy man nabbed over neighbor’s death in Trece Martires
Authorities have arrested a retired member of the Philippine Navy for allegedly killing his neighbor in Trece Martires, Cavite.
According to Joseph Morong’s Monday report on “Saksi,” the victim’s body was found under a pile of roofing sheets after he was shot in August.
The Trece Martires police said the victim was having a drink with a friend when the suspect approached them.
The suspect then confronted the victim about his pig that escaped and was caught by the latter’s family members.
After the confrontation, the victim followed the suspect and the had an argument.
The 47-year-old victim sustained three gunshot wounds on his head and body.
His body was found with the help of a witness.
Meanwhile, the 59-year-old suspect was arrested in his house. He denied the allegations.
The police retrieved a .9 mm firearm, a magazine, and bullets.
Based on the suspect’s counter affidavit, the victim entered and ransacked his house. He also said he was arrested without any legal basis.
However, the police said it was the suspect’s general denial.
The suspect also tested positive for the paraffin test.
