Man who sent bomb threat to PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group nabbed in Batangas

The Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said a suspect was arrested in Batangas City for allegedly sending a bomb threat to the police unit.

According to the ACG, the suspect, identified as 40-year-old alias Harvey, was persistently sending threats and messages of harassment to the official Facebook page of the group and its other lower units.

A portion of Harvey's message reads: "Mayroong bomba jan sa pwesto n'yo anuman oras o araw maaari itong sumabog. Actionan n'yo ang sinasabi ko bago mahuli at magsisi."

(There's a bomb at your place, it could explode at any time or day. Take action on what I am saying before it's too late and you'll regret it.)

"There is a bomb in any time or day, it may explode in your place," he added.

The ACG said the suspect used multiple dummy accounts.

On the strength of a warrant from the Regional Trial Court of Batangas City, the ACG on September 10 arrested the suspect.

He is now facing charges for three counts of grave threat under the Revised Penal Code in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 with bail set at P36,000 for each count.

"The arrest of the suspect should serve as a warning to all criminals who exploit cyberspace to commit unlawful acts. Rest assured, we will find you, and you will face the full force of the law," ACG acting director Police Brigadier General Bernard Yang said. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
