Bicol's Catholic churches offer sanctuary for Ompong evacuees

Some Catholic churches in the Bicol Region have opened their doors to evacuees seeking shelter amid the approach of Severe Tropical Storm Opong.

Based on PAGASA’s 5 p.m. weather bulletin, tropical cyclone wind signals are hoisted in some areas in the region.

Here are the following churches that are providing temporary shelters to evacuees:

• Nuestra Señora de la Porteria Church in Daraga, Albay
•  Holy Family Parish in Tabaco, Albay
• Nuestra Señora Del Santisimo Rosario Parish in Casiguran, Sorsogon  
• St. Padre Pio Parish in Legazpi City, Albay 
• Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Presentacion, Camarines Sur
• St. Roch Parish in Taysan, Legazpi, Albay  

PAGASA said Opong is expected to make landfall in Northern Samar or the northern portion of Eastern Samar on Friday, and another landfall in the Bicol Region. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
