3 Luzon dams still have gates open to release water —PAGASA


Three dams in Luzon had some of their gates still open as of Tuesday to release water, data from PAGASA showed. 

These are Ambuklao and Binga Dams in Benguet, and Magat Dam in Ifugao and Isabela.

At 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Ambuklao Dam still had one gate open at 0.5 meters, discharging water at 85.60 cubic meters per second (cms) via its turbine and spillway, same as on Monday.

The dam's reservoir water level (RWL) was at 751.01 meters on Tuesday morning, near the 752-meter spilling level.

Binga Dam meanwhile closed one gate but still had one gate open on Tuesday morning. The gate opening is at 0.3 meters, discharging 71.83 cms of water via turbine and spillway.

At 8 a.m. Tuesday, Binga Dam's RWL was at 574.75 meters, less than a meter away from the 575-meter spilling level.

Meanwhile, Magat Dam still had one gate open on Tuesday, same as on Monday. The gate was opened at 1.0 m, discharging water at 490.72 cms via turbine and spillway.

The dam's RWL was at 183.28 meters, just a few meters away frooom the 190-m spilling level.

PAGASA said the easterlies will affect most parts of the country on Tuesday, bringing cloudy skies and isolated rain showers. —KG, GMA Integrated News
