PH long-tailed macaque spotted in Bukidnon
A troop of Philippine long-tailed macaques endemic to the Philippines was spotted in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.
Professional photographer Alvin Cempron said he was thrilled to take photos of the monkeys up close near a community in Barangay Damilag.
He said the primates have long been living along the cliffside of the area.
The Philippine long-tailed macaque is a species native to the Visayas and Mindanao, and sightings in the wild are considered significant for biodiversity conservation.
A similar population of macaques is also found at the DENR-protected landscape in Initiao, Misamis Oriental.
Authorities have since placed the PCH-1 Cliffside in Manolo Fortich under protected area status to ensure the safety and survival of the macaque population. —GMA Regional TV
