Parents of 15-year-old rider to file raps vs. driver who rammed into motorcycle

The parents of the 15-year-old rider will file charges against the motorist who rammed his car into their son’s motorcycle in Teresa, Rizal on Tuesday.

According to Jun Veneracion’s report in “24 Oras” on Wednesday, the father of the teenager and car driver initially agreed that the driver will shoulder the expenses for his son’s treatment and the motorcycle’s repair.

The parents later decided to file charges against the driver upon seeing a video of the incident.

The boy’s parents went to the Public Attorney’s Office to seek legal assistance.

“Hindi katanggap-tanggap yung ginawa. Kasi papatayin niya yung bata. Eh paano kung natuluyan?” the mother said.

(What he did is unacceptable. He tried to kill my son. What if my son died?)

“Pasensyahan tayo, ikaw may kasalanan nito. Gagawin ko lang ang nararapat. Pagdusahan mo kung ano yung katarantaduhan na ginawa mo sa anak ko,” the father said, addressing the driver.

(I’m sorry, but this is all your fault. I’m just doing what’s right. You have to suffer for what you did to my son.)

CCTV footage showed the irate driver confronting the male student who was on his way to school. The driver was heard telling bystanders that it was the teenager who was at fault for sideswiping him.

However, the residents confronted the driver for his behavior.

A witness said she saw how the driver crashed his car into the rear of the motorcycle, throwing its rider off.

“Malayo pa po ako, kitang-kita ko na po yung pagbundol ng kotse doon sa motor ng bata. Sira po yung kanyang uniform,” said Maricel Santos, adding that the teenager suffered wounds on his arms and legs.

(I was a bit away, but I clearly saw the car hit the boy’s motorcycle. His uniform was even torn.)

Initial investigation by the Teresa Rizal Municipal Police Station showed that the motorcycle allegedly first grazed the car. The motorcycle didn’t stop, which led to a car chase.

The municipal police station is also preparing to file charges for attempted murder against the driver, the report said.

“Harapin mo lahat ng consequences ng pinaggagawa mo. Hindi biro ang ginawa mo sa anak ko. Papatay ka ng tao dahil sa kaunting gasgas na ‘yun. Napaka-demonyo niya, sir,” the mother said.

(You need to face all the consequences of what you did. What you did to my child is no joke. You were going to kill someone over a small scratch. He is so evil, sir.)

The driver refused to issue a comment to GMA Integrated News.

The Department of Transportation has already ordered the perpetual revocation of the driver’s license oof the suspect following the incident. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
