Coastal Aurora residents prepare for evacuation due to Tropical Depression Ramil
Residents in the coastal municipalities of Aurora are preparing to evacuate in preparation for the possible landfall of Tropical Depression Ramil on Sunday.
According to the report on "24 Oras" by GMA Regional TV’s Jasmin Gabriel-Galban on Friday, residents in Dingalan are already packing up their belongings they will bring with them to the evacuation center.
“We cannot afford not to evacuate because the sea level is rising. Authorities are already calling us to evacuate, and there will be trucks to pick us up,” said Natividad Grazila.
Many fishermen have already stopped going out to sea. They will bring their boats to the seawall to keep them safe from the strong waves.
“Many fishermen have already gone missing. So whenever the winds get strong, we need to get home immediately,” said Rodel Refugio.
A “no sailing, no fishing, no swimming” policy has been implemented in the coastal areas. Local government units will also strongly monitor fishermen who attempt to sail.
“There might be fishermen who attempt to sail. It would be dangerous if they get stranded in the middle of the sea,” said Aurora PDRRM officer Amado Elson Egargue.
Evacuation centers have been prepared as well as the rescue equipment.
“There will be a preemptive evacuation for those living in the coastal area, either later or tomorrow morning,” said Egargue. –Vince Angelo Ferreras/NB, GMA Integrated News
