6 hurt in 10-vehicle crash in Nabas, Aklan
Six persons were hurt after a wing van truck carrying 300 sacks of sugar lost control and caused a multiple-vehicle collision in Barangay Libertad in Nabas, Aklan on Monday evening.
According to the report of GMA Regional TV’s John Sala in “24 Oras” on Tuesday, a rear-facing camera captured video of the fast moving van swerving to another lane, causing it to hit another vehicle, leading to a domino-effect with several other vehicles. Footage showed the van falling on its side.
Eight vehicles as well as two parked motorcycles were involved in the road mishap.
The truck allegedly lost its brakes.
“‘Yung wing van, tuloy-tuloy na bumaba hanggang sa tinusok sa likurang bahagi ang isa pang commuter van bago siya gumulong-gulong,” said Nabas Municipal Police Station officer-in-charge Major Ronnel Bayaban.
(The wing van kept going down until it rammed into the back of another commuter van before it tumbled.)
Among the six injured was the truck driver’s assistant.
The affected portion of the road was closed to the public for almost eight hours.
GMA Integrated News is trying to get a comment from the truck driver who is detained at the Nabas Police Station.
“With the amount of cargo you're carrying, you should be slowing down. This isn't a race,” said Land Transportation Office-6 director Gaudioso Geduspan II. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
