Magnitude 5.6 quake jolts Candoni, Negros Occidental
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has downgraded the magnitude 5.6 earthquake that rocked Candoni, Negros Occidental before dawn Monday.
The tectonic earthquake struck at 3:06 a.m., with its epicenter at 09.70°N, 122.74°E - 018 km S 36° E of Candoni and a depth of focus of 61 km.
In an update, PHIVOLCS downgraded the tremor to magnitude 5.5.
Intensity IV was felt in Candoni, Negros Occidental and in Dumaguete City and Sibulan in Negros Occidental.
Intensity III was recorded in Jordan, Guimaras; and in Bago City, Sipalay City, and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental.
Intensity II was recorded in Malinao, Aklan; Culasi, San Jose, Sebaste, and Valderrama in Antique; Nueva Valencia in Guimaras; Argao and Cebu City in Cebu; Dipolog City, Liloy, Sindangan, and Siocon in Zamboanga del Norte; and Dumingag in Zamboanga del Sur.
Meanwhile, Intensity I was recorded in Anini-y, Antique; Jamindan, Roxas City, and Tapaz in Capiz; San Lorenzo in Guimaras; Bacolod City; Talibon in Bohol, and Asturias and Talisay City in Cebu.
