NGCP: Power interruptions in parts of Luzon as Uwan crosses landmass


The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has reported several unscheduled power interruptions in seven areas in Luzon on Sunday night as Super Typhoon Uwan continues to batter the Luzon landmass.

In posts on its Facebook page, the NGCP said the power outages were reported in parts of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pampanga, Baguio City, Benguet, and Zambales.

The power outages were recorded as Uwan made landfall over Dinalungan, Aurora at 9:10 p.m. Sunday night.

“Specific affected areas are determined by the distribution utility. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the power interruption,” the NGCP said on Sunday night.

The unscheduled power interruptions were recorded in the following areas:

  • Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative (ISECO), Vigan Substation at 10:07 p.m., due to tripping of Bantay-Vigan 69kV line (co-maintained with ISECO)
  • La Union Electric Cooperative (LUELCO), Bacnotan and Balaoan Substations at 10:27 p.m., due to tripping of Bacnotan-Bulala 69kV line
  • LUELCO, Aringay, Agoo, Damortis, Alacan and Sison Substations at 10:12 p.m. due to tripping of Bauang-San Fabian 69kV line
  • LUELCO, Naguilian Substation at 10:33 p.m. due to tripping of Bauang-Naguilian 69kV line
  • San Fernando Electric Light and Power Company (SFELAPCO), Floridablanca Substation and Pampanga II Electric Cooperative (PELCO II), Pio and Manibaug Substation at 10:07 p.m. due to tripping of Hermosa-Floridablanca 69kV line
  • Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), Lamut Substation at 10:45 p.m. due to outage of La Trinidad-Lamut 69kV Line
  • Zambales I Electric Cooperative (ZAMECO I), Iba, Salaza, Candelaria and Sta. Cruz Substation at 10:21 p.m. due to tripping of Botolan-Candelaria 69kV line
  • BENECO, Itogon Totalizer at 10:43 p.m. due to outage of Itogon-Ampucao 23kV Line
  • BENECO, North Sanitary Camp and Irisan Substations, at 10:45 p.m. due to outage of La Trinidad-Sablan 69kV Line
  • LUECO, Bauang and Poro Substations at 11:16 p.m. due to tripping of Bauang-San Fernando 69kV line
  • Abra Electric Cooperative (ABRECO), entire province of Abra at 11:18 p.m. due to tripping of San Esteban-Bangued 69kV, and
  • ISECO at 12:21 a.m. Monday due to tripping of San Esteban-Candon 69kV line.

Earlier at 1 a.m. Monday, the NGCP reported the restoration of several transmission lines in parts of Luzon that were earlier downed due to the impact of the super typhoon. Other transmission lines in Luzon and the Visayas were also downed due to Uwan. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
