Access road, stairs near collapsed road in Bukidnon now passable
Motorists and pedestrians can now pass through the temporary access road and stairway installed near the collapsed portion of the Bukidnon-Davao Road in Sitio Kipolot, Barangay Palacapao, Quezon, Bukidnon.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported that the temporary road and stairway it has installed in the area have already been completed.
Drone footage released by DPWH showed residents using the stairway and riders passing through the temporary access road. The construction of the stairs’ railings was also finished.
DPWH-10 said its engineers continue to conduct studies, measurements, and surveys, including pre-construction activities for the collapsed section of the road.
Heavy equipment has also been positioned at the site while waiting for further plans and instructions for the repair of the damaged road.
DPWH-10 added that the agency is coordinating with the local government on the regulations for vehicles using the temporary road.
"Ongoing ang coordination ni DPWH Bukidnon 2nd DEO and LGU of Quezon, Bukidnon, regarding sa regulations aning pagagi sa mga sakyanan. Dili jud ni siya pwede. And as of the moment man pud gud, ongoing man ang efforts sa department for the detour road para sa atong mga motorist. Hangyo lang nato ilang patience and coordination because para ra man pud ni sa welfare sa publiko," DPWH-10 added.
It can be recalled that a large portion of the road collapsed following a landslide on October 18, 2025, prompting authorities to close the area temporarily.
A bao-bao or tricab was found buried under the soil that slid down the area, and the bodies of the couple on board the vehicle were retrieved after five days of continuous search operations on October 23, 2025. —GMA Regional TV
