Magnitude 5.3 quake hits Davao Oriental town

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake hit Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental on Tuesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
PHIVOLCS earlier reported that a magnitude 5.5 quake hit the area.
The quake, which occurred at 6:45 pm at a depth of 51 kilometers and 46 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.
The Phivolcs reported the quake, which was tectonic in origin, was felt in the following areas:
- Intensity IV - Governor Generoso and Tarragona, Davao Oriental; City of Digos, Davao del Sur
- Intensity III - Cateel, Manay, City of Mati, Lupon, and Caraga, Davao Oriental; City of Davao; Matanao, Davao del Sur; Pantukan, Davao de Oro; Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental; Glan, Malungon, and Malapatan, Sarangani; Tupi, South Cotabato
- Intensity II - Kiamba and Maitum, Sarangani; Cit of General Santos; Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat; Mawab and Mabini, Davao de Oro; Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; Tampakan, South Cotabato
- Intensity I - Maasim, Sarangani; City of Kidapawan, Antipas, Matalam, Arakan, Tulunan, President Roxas, and Makilala, Cotabato; Kiblawan, Davao del Sur
There are no expected damage but aftershocks may occur, the agency said. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
