Dueñas, Iloilo vice mayor in accidental firing has died, mayor says
Dueñas, Iloilo Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan, who was earlier injured in an apparent accidental discharge of her firearm last December 30, has died, Dueñas, Iloilo Mayor Robert Martin Pama said Thursday.
Pama announced Lamasan's death in a Facebook post.
"You have been with me through ups and downs... You are so dear to me... Your passing is really, really painful... We were like brothers and sisters," Pama said in a mix of Ilonggo and English.
"[T]here [are] no goodbyes between us... See you in the next life... RIP, my beloved Vice Mayor," Pama added.
A December 31 report by Panay News said Lamasan was rushed to St. Paul's Hospital after the accidental firearm discharge happened Tuesday inside Lamasan's residence in La Paz, Iloilo City.
The same Panay News report said Lamasan's the sudden discharge of Lamasan's firearm, which she was handling herself, injured the right side of the stomach. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
