Woman possibly still alive when placed inside storage box found in Basud, CamNorte
The woman found dead inside a storage box in Basud, Camarines Norte could have still been alive when she was placed in the container, investigators said.
According to Jun Veneracion’s report in “24 Oras” on Thursday, the authorities said that the victim was only about 4'8" or 4'9", which was why she easily fit in the box.
“Kung makikita niyo po yung post-mortem, wala siyang signs of struggle sa physically. Ayan din po sabi ng doktor sa amin. Pero definitely po, asphyxia by suffocation,” said Basud Municipal Police Station chief Capt. Mark Anthony Armea.
(Based on the post-mortem, there were no signs of struggles on her physically. That’s what the doctor also told us. Pero definitely, there was a sign of asphyxia by suffocation.)
Investigation showed that the victim and her partner had an argument at their home in Cabuyao, Laguna, which escalated to a physical altercation. According to the police, the victim's partner admitted to shoving her, which led to her hitting her head.
He then placed the victim inside the storage box, which he then had loaded into the baggage compartment of a provincial bus on its way to Bicol.
The suspect traveled all the way to Basud in Camarines Norte, where the box was found under a bridge.
The suspect later surrendered to the Rosario, Batangas police.
“Ang kwento niya noong dumating siya, tinulak niya po yung babae. Nauntog daw at pinipilit niyang iaangat, eh wala na daw malay,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ronie Siriban of the Rosario Municipal Police Station.
(He told us that she pushed the woman and she hit her head. When he was trying to pull her up, she was already unresponsive.)
Charges are being prepared against the suspect, the report said. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA Integrated News
