12 retrieved in landfill landslide in Cebu City — Mayor Archival

Twelve individuals have been retrieved and hospitalized from the landslide at a landfill site in Cebu City, Cebu Mayor Nestor Archival said Friday.

In a situation report, Archival said that of the seven are at the Visayas Medical Center and five are hospitalized at the Cebu North General Hospital.

Meanwhile, of the 110 employees involved in the incident, 38 individuals remain missing while a 22-year-old female was confirmed to have died.

“Continuous care is being provided to all hospitalized victims to address their medical needs. The City Government is also extending burial assistance and necessary support to the family of the deceased,” Archival said.

Meanwhile, search, rescue, and retrieval operations are ongoing.

He said that tents and shaded areas will also be set up at the site to provide shelter and assistance to the families and relatives of the affected employees.

According to Archival, a total of 333 personnel have been deployed.

“The City Government assures the public and the families of those affected that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure safety, transparency, accountability, and compassionate assistance as operations continue,” he said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
