Woman arrested for kicking, spitting on devotees during Penitential Walk with Jesus

A woman who introduced herself as a vlogger was arrested after physically harming and spitting on devotees at the Penitential Walk with Jesus for the feast of Señor Santo Niño in Cebu City.

Footage obtained by GMA Regional TV showed the woman striking a police officer who was trying to pacify her.

The woman also allegedly damaged a motorcycle, according to police.

The woman admitted that she was intoxicated.

“Hindi na ako nakapagpigil. May sinipa akong isang tao, may dinuraan. Hindi ko na kasi alam ‘yun eh (I was not able to control myself. I kicked and spat on someone. I did not know what I was doing)” she said.

The woman was not able to hold back when authorities approached her.

“Kasi lasing na kami nu’n eh. Tumatawa pa nga kami. Tapos hinampas-hampas ko ‘yung kaibigan ko, akala nila may sinasaktan ako na tao kaya du’n ako nahuli,” the woman added.

(We were drunk, we were laughing. Then my friend struck me repeatedly. They thought I was hurting someone that’s why I got nabbed).

“Hindi naman kasi ako sanay uminom. Nagawa ko lang naman uminom dahil mayroon akong anxiety. Tapos hihingi lang sana ako ng [tawad] dahil sa sasakyan na na-damage. Hindi ko talaga sinasadya ‘yun,” she said.

(I'm not used to drinking. I just drank because of anxiety. I want to apologize for the car that was damaged. I did not mean to do that.)

The woman said she is a vlogger from Bacolod, and is currently studying law in Cebu City.

The woman pleaded with authorities not to file complaints against her, as it would affect her studies.

She also issued a public apology.

“Hihingi lang po ako ng tawad kasi hindi ko naman ‘yun sinasadya. Hindi lang naman ako siguro ‘yung tao na ganiyan,” sabi ng babae.

(I apologize I did not mean it. I'm probably not the only person who does that.)

The woman might face complaints of damage to property at resistance and obedience to a person in authority if her apology is not accepted by the offended parties.—Jamil Santos/LDF, GMA Integrated News
