3 cops shot at Negros Oriental bar came with suspect – police

The three police officers who were shot dead by their colleague at a bar in Sibulan, Negros Oriental came with the suspect – contrary to earlier reports that they responded to a shooting incident at the said establishment, the Negros Island Region (NIR) Police Office said.

This was according to a report by Tina Panganiban-Perez on “24 Oras Weekend” on Sunday.

“This group of policemen, with the chief of police, pumunta sila dito sa bar. And then they invited one, itong biktima nating babae,” said NIR Police director Police Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay.

(This group of policemen, with the chief of police, came to the bar. And then they invited one, our female victim.)

CCTV footage showed the victim sitting down with the group of policemen. The suspect then got up and then pointed a finger at the victim in anger.

He then walked behind the woman and shot her on the head.

The suspect immediately exited the bar and was followed by his three colleagues, including the chief of police of Sibulan, Negros Oriental.

All of them later boarded a car, where the suspect shot them.

Investigation showed that there were two other policemen outside the bar. They were reportedly told to call an ambulance after the woman was shot.

The two police officers are now under investigation, the report added.

“’Yun ang talagang pinipilit naming alamin, pagdating doon sa naging motibo kung bakit niya nabaril itong biktima nating babae sa bar,” Ibay said.

(That is what we are really trying hard to find out – the motive as to why he shot the female victim at the bar.)

GMA Integrated News is still trying to get the side of the families of the victims.

Police added that the suspect is facing charges for multiple murder and has refused to issue a statement on the matter. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
