DPWH opens detour road to ease travel woes in Bukidnon and Davao

DPWH opens detour road to ease travel woes in Bukidnon and Davao

Motorists can now pass through a newly constructed detour road following the reopening of a key section of the Bukidnon-Davao Road that was damaged by a landslide last October.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV One Mindanao’s Rgil Relator, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) opened the detour road in Sitio Kipolot, Barangay Palacapao in Quezon, Bukidnon, on Wednesday after around two and a half months of construction.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon personally inspected the detour road prior to its opening to ensure it was safe for motorists, the agency said.

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, who hails from Bukidnon, was also present during the event and credited the DPWH for the swift completion of the project.

“With economic losses of almost P40 million a day dahil sa road closure, ngayon ay may malaking ginhawa na para sa dumadaan na agricultural goods and tourism sector,” Zubiri said in a Facebook post.

(With economic losses of almost P40 million a day due to the road closure, this brings major relief to the transport of agricultural goods and the tourism sector.)

The detour road is expected to ease traffic flow and restore vital connectivity between Bukidnon and Davao, particularly for farmers, traders, and travelers who rely on the highway for daily transport.

Motorists were advised to continue exercising caution while passing through the area as monitoring and improvement works continue.  —Sherylin Untalan/VBL, GMA Integrated News
