Classes, trips in parts of Surigao provinces cancelled due to Ada

Some areas in Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur have suspended classes and trips due to the inclement weather brought by Tropical Storm Ada.

According to the report of GMA Regional TV’s Cyril Chavez on “24 Oras” on Thursday, Ada brought scattered rain showers with strong winds as both provinces are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.

In Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, trips in ports were cancelled, and fishing activities were prohibited.

Authorities are also monitoring coastal municipalities as well as Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands.

Equipment was also deployed in various cities for easier response.

“As of now po wala pa kaming na-eceive na information regarding evacuation centers that have popped out recently. However, as per our municipal DRRMO officers, they have been proactively checking yung mga eskwelahan to see if the need to evacuate is necessary,” said Surigao del Norte PDRRMO OpCen Chief Daryll Gomez.
