Bulacan massacre suspect sends surrender feelers

MANILA, Philippines - A 42-year-old man tagged in the massacre of a 78-year-old man and his two neighbors in Bulacan province last weekend has sent surrender feelers to the police. Radio dzBB's Bernie Morales reported Monday that relatives of Renato Arando Jr, 42, sent indications they will turn him over to the Bulacan provincial police before noon. Police had failed to find Arando after linking him to the killing of Eladio Peña, 78; and sons Renato, 48; and Luisito, 42. The three victims were repeatedly stabbed while asleep in their house in Ubihan village in Meycauayan City at 3 p.m. Friday last week. Radio dzRH reported that robbery was being eyed as the likely motive for the crime, even as police have taken into custody a man who allegedly helped the suspect escape. The victims were rushed to the Gregorio del Pilar District Hospital but two died on the way. Luisito died undergoing treatment. - GMANews.TV
