CCTV catches last moments of slain cop in Malolos, Bulacan

A CCTV camera caught the last moments of a police officer when he met his asset during his birthday on January 24 in Malolos, Bulacan.

According to Jun Veneracion’s Tuesday report on “24 Oras,” Police Staff Sergeant Renato Casauay, a member of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group, met his asset Julian Salamat at a compound in Barangay Mojon.

Footage showed Casauay move out of the camera and did not catch him talking with Salamat who followed him. At least five gunshots rang out.

Meanwhile, several men nearby acted as if nothing happened.

The CCTV camera then caught Salamat giving orders to his accomplices.

They reportedly worked together in disposing Casauay’s body inside a septic tank.

Authorities said there is a conspiracy to conceal the remains since no one reported the incident. The body was found on January 30.

Police caught four suspects, including Police Corporal Vivencio Abalos.

The suspects, including the shooter, allegedly belong to a group of riders where Abalos is also a member.

Abalos was arrested for concealment since the shooter reportedly told him about the incident.

Authorities are still searching for the gunman and six other suspects.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced a P1 million reward to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.

Police investigation revealed that Casauay’s death is related to his work, since he was allegedly targeted by the suspects for causing them problems in their illegal drug activities.

One of Salamat’s companions was caught by Casauay last December.
