Rider evading checkpoint hit by jeepney in Zamboanga City

A motorcycle rider was hit by a jeepney after he tried to avoid a checkpoint by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) at Barangay Calarian in Zamboanga City. 

According to a report in “Balitanghali” on Tuesday, the rider said that he made a U-turn to avoid authorities as he only had a student permit. 

The jeepney driver confirmed that the rider suddenly made a U-turn, which is why he wasn’t able to avoid him. 

The rider did not suffer any injuries, and no other motorists were involved in the incident. 

The LTO let the police handle the incident, while the rider and jeepney driver already settled the matter. 

The LTO, meanwhile, reminded the public that a licensed driver serving as an instructor must accompany a student permit holder. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/ VAL, GMA News
