LTFRB issues SCO vs. bus company involved in fatal Quezon crash
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) suspended the operations of a bus company involved in a bus crash in Quezon that led to the death of two individuals on Tuesday.
According to a statement, a show cause order has been issued against said the bus company, which has nine units currently in operation.
“We will be giving them the opportunity to explain their side as part of the due process. But they are mandated to explain why their CPC should not be suspended or revoked,” said LTFRB chairman Vigor Mendoza.
Mendoza shared that the crash could have been caused by a violation of rules and regulations on providing safe land transport for passengers.
The said crash occurred in Pagbilao, Quezon after a brake failure caused said bus to fall off a ravine.
Two were reported dead while at least 31 were injured.
The company was asked to submit records of maintenance, while the bus units will be subjected to roadworthiness tests.
The bus driver was also asked to undergo a drug test and take a seminar on public safety. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BAP, GMA News
