Minor strombolian activity seen at Mayon Volcano
Minor strombolian activity is currently ongoing at the Mayon Volcano in Albay, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Thursday afternoon.
This was according to a volcano alert issued by NDRRMC at 5:15 p.m. of April 23.
The minor strombolian activity – or low-level, intermittent, and relatively mild volcanic explosions at the summit crater – began at 4:58 p.m. and is still ongoing as of posting time.
“Sumunod sa abiso ng awtoridad (Follow the advisory of authorities),” the NDRRMC said in a Facebook post.
On Sunday, 4:10 a.m., state volcanologists also logged minor strombolian activity at the volcano.
Alert Level 3 is in effect over Mayon Volcano, which means that entry into its six-kilometer permanent danger zone (PDZ) is prohibited. — JMA, GMA News
