Ash emission was reported from the Kanlaon Volcano summit crater late Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

Footage of the emission showed 800-meters of grayish ash plumes generated from the Kanlaon Volcano Summit crater at around 5:23 p.m.

The ash can be seen drifting in the southwest direction.

Last Wednesday, Kanlaon was seen emitting 500-meter ash plumes between 5:47 a.m. to 6:06 a.m.

Kanlaon remains under Alert Level 2 or a moderate level of volcanic unrest.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) warned residents in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental of possible ashfall from the Kanlaon Volcano.

According to an advisory on Friday, areas near the volcano may be affected by the ash seen being released from the volcano. — BAP, GMA News
