WATCH: Minor Strombolian activity on Day 127 of Mayon Volcano's effusive eruption
State volcanologists observed minor Strombolian activity anew at Mayon Volcano on Monday night amid its effusive eruption for the 127th day.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) shared close-up footage of the volcanic activity, which was logged at 8:43 p.m. of May 11.
The footage was recorded by the Mayon Volcano Observatory’s RasPicam.
The volcano’s effusive eruption is on its 127th consecutive day, producing lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or “uson,” and frequent rockfalls.
Over the weekend, PHIVOLCS reported short-lived lava fountaining at the Mayon Volcano’s summit crater on Saturday evening.
Alert Level 3 or a high level of unrest is still in effect over the volcano, with entry into its six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) strictly prohibited. — JMA, GMA News
