WATCH: Mayon Volcano’s lava effusion on Day 167 of effusive eruption

Lava effusion with collapse-fed pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) was observed at Mayon Volcano on Sunday night as the volcano marked its 167th day of effusive eruption.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) shared sped-up footage of the volcanic activity on its social media accounts.

The lava effusion was recorded between 7:35 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. of Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Mayon Volcano entered its 167th consecutive day of effusive eruption, generating PDCs or “uson,” incandescent lava flows, and rockfalls.

State volcanologists warned that Alert Level 3 – which means intensified or magmatic unrest – remains in effect over the volcano.

Entry into Mayon Volcano’s six-kilometer permanent danger zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited, PHIVOLCS added. — JMA, GMA News
