Minor strombolian acitivity observed at Mayon Volcano — PHIVOLCS

A minor strombolian activity was observed at the summit crater of Mayon Volcano early Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The strombolian activity, which occurred at 12:12 a.m. on Thursday was captured by the PHIVOLCS Quick Response Team.

"Effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano persists for the 130th consecutive day, producing lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or locally known as “uson,” and frequent rockfalls," the agency reported.

Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano and entry into the 6-km Permanent Danger Zone is strictly prohibited. — BAP, GMA News
