DOH raises Code White Alert for Tropical Storm Domeng preparedness
Code white alert was raised by the Department of Health as part of preparations for the emergency response to areas that will be affected by Tropical Storm Domeng.
"Under code white alert, the following Centers for Health Development (CHD) or regional offices of DOH are on guard," according to the DOH statement posted on Friday.
The DOH will prepare the following:
- Health commodities such as medicines and hygiene kits
- Medical equipment
- Health emergency teams
"All CHDs were also instructed to be alert 24/7 to the situation of their subjects for immediate provision of necessary assistance," the Health Department said.
Based on PAGASA's Tropical Cyclone Bulletin on Friday afternoon, residents in Eastern Visayas and parts of the Bicol Region may experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of Tropical Storm Domeng, while several areas in Western Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan remain under the influence of the southwest monsoon.
As of 3 p.m., the center of Domeng was estimated at 1,130 kilometers east of Central Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 105 kph. The storm was moving west northwestward at 10 kph. — BAP, GMA News
